Setup Custom Variables

Why use Custom Variables?

  1. Visitor profiling is an essential part of any business. Before you begin interacting with a potential client, drawing in basic data will help you manage your interactions with greater efficiency. Custom variables are a feature that will help you achieve this end. It helps gather visitor details before the chat begins. Making use of this will help you get access to names, email IDs, and addresses of your visitors to make your conversation contextual.
  2. The variables that you set up can be used to create auto invites or template invitations. You could for instance, create invites to target those visitors who have added some products to the cart, are facing problems during payment or while filling up a form. As soon as you activate the custom variable in your code, the required auto invite will be triggered to send out a chat invite to the concerned visitor.

There is great scope for innovation here. Use your creative grey cells to come up with some interesting inputs while making custom variables.

How to use it?

To establish custom variables and to customize them, you will need to implement the tracking code in the following manner:

<script type="text/javascript">
var __ac = {};
__ac.uid = "widgetinstallationid";
__ac.server = "";
__ac.params = {'Order Id' : '3424', ‘Order Amount’ : ’$356’};

(function() { var ac = document.createElement('script');
ac.type = 'text/javascript';
ac.async = true;
ac.src = '';
var s = document.getElementsByTagName('script')[0];
s.parentNode.insertBefore(ac, s); })();

Once the variables have been set up, make sure to replace the standard tracking code with the new one on your website. The default widget installation id must be replaced with yours.

When you have finished with the establishment, you will have access to the data set in the variables. This will be seen in the visitor information in your chat.
